Sách Wind Loading of Structures :
Mô tả: Provides a comprehensive, practical examination of the wind loading of structures. Fundamentals of wind loading are described in detail, with the author discussing the nature of wind, prediction of wind speed and force, dynamic response of buildings, and successful design of buildings to counteract wind loading problems. Editorial Reviews
The Battery Man, October 2002
valuable insights into the nature of the materials used in the battery industry daily...interesting reading and a ready reference

Review
Anytime a title can pass through fifteen editions, it must be doing something right, and it must be providing a valuable service. While McGraw-Hill has not made volume data available, the fact that this title has been published in numerous editions since 1956 allows for its place as a compulsory read, if not as an important reference. The subtitle of the book actually describes its place rather well: "An encyclopedia for Managers, Technical Professionals, Purchasing and Production Managers, Technicians and Supervisors." The book is divided into two parts, Materials -- Their Properties and Uses; and Structure and Properties of Materials. Either part can provide valuable insights into the nature of the materials used in the battery industry daily; both together provide interesting reading and a ready reference for those numerous questions which always arise at just the wrong moment. (Battery Man )

Product Description
The Materials Handbook is an encyclopedic, A-to-Z organization of all types of materials, featuring their key performance properties, principal characteristics and applications in product design. Materials include ferrous and nonferrous metals, plastics, elastomers, ceramics, woods, composites, chemicals, minerals, textiles, fuels, foodstuffs and natural plant and animal substances --more than 13,000 in all. Properties are expressed in both U.S. customary and metric units and a thorough index eases finding details on each and every material.
Introduced in 1929 and often known simply as "Brady's," this comprehensive, one-volume, 1244 page encyclopedia of materials is intended for executives, managers, supervisors, engineers, and technicians, in engineering, manufacturing, marketing, purchasing and sales as well as educators and students.
Of the dozens of families of materials updated in the 15th Edition, the most extensive additions pertain to adhesives, activated carbon, aluminides, aluminum alloys, catalysts, ceramics, composites, fullerences, heat-transfer fluids, nanophase materials, nickel alloys, olefins, silicon nitride, stainless steels, thermoplastic elastomers, titanium alloys, tungsten alloys, valve alloys and welding and hard-facing alloys.
Also widely updated are acrylics, brazing alloys, chelants, biodegradable plastics, molybdenum alloys, plastic alloys, recyclate plastics, superalloys, supercritical fluids and tool steels.
New classes of materials added include aliphatic polyketones, carburizing secondary-hardening steels and polyarylene ether benzimidazoles. Carcinogens and materials likely to be cancer-causing in humans are listed for the first time.

Book Info
Each entry covers composition, production methods, properties and characteristics, uses, and commercial designation of trade name. Revised industry classic includes thousands of new technologies and products as well as extensive updates on existing materials to keep you current. Previous edition c1997.

Booknews
A sizeable compendium of structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and acoustical design data. With 450 universal design scenarios, walks readers through the steps of designing, selecting, and sizing almost any functional component of a building. Introduces two fundamentally new approaches toward the sizing of functional components: parameter design, which involves determining the optimal dimensions of a component's outermost characteristics regardless of its inner details; and the gauging equation, an algebra to determine a component's size by some practical or experimental criteria when a scientifically articulated method either does not exist or is needlessly complex. The CD-ROM, for IBM compatibles, includes over 900 formulas and nearly 100 design tools, has a quick search component, and can be incorporated into CAD.
